How the anime kiss is made

The anime look is created in the first step. The image model redraws both of you as anime characters: clean line art, flat cel shading, large expressive eyes and simplified features, while keeping each person’s hairstyle, hair color and clothes. The two characters stand shoulder to shoulder on a grassy hill at a summer festival, smiling, with fireworks overhead and lanterns at your feet.

The video model then animates that drawing. The fireworks keep bursting, the two characters turn toward each other, lean in and kiss with their eyes closed, and the hair moves in the breeze. The style stays anime from the first frame to the last; the clip lasts 5 seconds by default, up to 30, and comes with sound.

How much it looks like you

Anime style simplifies faces on purpose, so expect a recognizable character rather than a portrait. What carries over best are the things anime artists use to tell characters apart.

• Hairstyle and hair color: the strongest signal. A distinctive cut, fringe or color survives the redraw.
• Clothes: necklines, colors and patterns of your outfits appear in the drawing.
• Facial hair, glasses and face shape: usually kept in a simplified form.
• Fine details such as freckles, small scars or exact eye color: often smoothed away.

Photos that turn into good anime characters

Clear, simple photos give the redraw the most to work with.

• Front-facing or slightly turned portraits with the face and hair fully visible.
• Even lighting without strong shadows; harsh light becomes odd shapes in cel shading.
• Outfits you like, since they will be drawn into the scene.
• Photos of adults only. The template draws both people as adults, and photos of minors are not allowed.

Anime kiss or a photorealistic kiss?

Choose anime when you want something playful to share, a fan-art feel or a picture that looks like you without being a photo of you. Choose a photorealistic template when likeness matters most; the romantic and French kiss templates keep your real faces in cinematic scenes.

Anime kiss videos follow the same rules as everything on The Kiss: adults only, photos only of people who agreed to appear, and nothing explicit. Uploads are deleted when the task finishes and results are kept for 7 days by default.
